Florian Mayer
Elf Präludien für Violine Solo
Florian Mayer - Violine
For his CD debut, the Dresden violinist Florian Mayer (formerly of Blaues Einhorn) composed eleven preludes. Inspired by the “Dix Préludes” by the Franco-Belgian violin virtuoso Eugène Ysaye, Mayer’s “Preludes” also take the intervals as the point of departure. From unison to tenth – each interval receives its own interpretation, evolves its own character, and develops from mere mathematics and musical theory into art and a fully-fledged character piece. The very resonant acoustics of the choir of Freiberg‘s Petrikirche, in which the recordings were made, creates a very special effect. The composition was written especially for this room and allows the long reverberation to become an important element of the music.
