Founded in 1994 and comprising members of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Chursächsische Capelle devotes itself to the systematic exploration and presentation of unpublished works of central German baroque music. This recording focuses on compositions by the Bach family with its numerous musicians – from Johann Bernhard Bach in Eisenach to Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach in Berlin.
The musicians’ virtuosity clearly brings out the subtleties included in these gems of baroque chamber music and conjures up the atmosphere of the chamber concerts in the Bach household where the famous father and his no-less famous sons competed with each other in search of praise for their music.
Fondée en 1994 par des membres de l’orchestre du Gewandhaus de Leipzig, la Chursächsische Capelle s’est fixée pour tâche première de révéler, de façon systématique, des œuvres inédites de la musique baroque d’Allemagne Centrale. Au cœur du présent enregistrement figurent les compositions de la famille Bach, cette lignée de musiciens aux nombreuses ramifications – de Johann Bernhard Bach à Eisenach à Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach à Berlin.
La virtuosité des musiciens rend clairement perceptibles les subtilités propres à ces joyaux de la musique baroque, et fait revivre l’atmosphère de ces concerts de chambre dans la maison Bach, au cours desquels le père célèbre et ses non moins célèbres fils rivalisaient pour chanter les louanges de la musique.
