On 29 August 2015, on the eve of his seventieth birthday, the London blues’n’soul poet Paul Millns gave a brilliant concert with his band and guests. On a balmy summer night under a full moon, 500 concert goers in Goseck Castle had the pleasure of experiencing this one-time event, excerpts of which were broadcast on radio. Paul Millns has now released a personal selection of ten songs from this concert evening on the new Go- seck label Asina Records, a mix of hits and new songs performed with his fabulous band and in an outstanding sound quality that makes it seem as if you were there! For decades, Paul Millns has captivated audiences with his fantastic songs. Sophisticated arrangements and empathetic texts quickly made him the poet of the British scene. In the 1960s and ’70s, Millns earned his spurs in the British scene as tour keyboarder with Alexis Cor- ner and Eric Burdon, among others. He has released solo albums since 1975. As a songwriter and performer, he numbers among the greats of his craft. At the same time, the London musician with the expressive, soulful voice, virtuoso keyboard playing, and worldly-wise ballads stands entirely in the tradition of his inspiration, Ray Charles.
